When creating text in Final Cut Pro X (for example by using the "Basic title" template), it seems like you always have to introduce hard returns to get a new line. However, I would like to create a text box and then just let the text auto wrap to the boarders of this box. Can I achieve this somehow?

Create it in Motion as a Text Generator. Just set the margins where you want them.

Thanks! That would have been a great answer... if I owned Motion :) Would I be able to use a template created by someone else in Motion, and then through published parameters adjust the text box in FCP X?

Martin,

You can download my X-Title importer. Not that you need it :)
Launching it a one time it will install some title templates which fulfill your needs.
You can delete the app then.

Cool! That was exactly what I needed!

Just a quick question: The only way that I've found to change the size of my text box is to use the transform->scale controls and then adjust the text size afterwards, which is a bit cumbersome (and can also lead to inconsistencies between the text size of different text boxes). Is there some other way to do this more directly?

It's quite easy to change the text box.

Double-click the text region of the title in the canvas. Then you can use the handles to adjust the region borders the way you need without distorting your settings for font size etc.

Neat! Well, that pretty much solved my problem then. Thanks a bunch!
