Adding a logo to a Generator in FCR X was created by domcross
Hi All,
First post, so please be gentle
I'm in the process of pulling together my first film in FCP and on a very steep learning curve! I'm trying to find a cool way to present my company logo at the start of the film and some of the generators are awesome!
It looks like some of them are intended for the user to put a logo into the generator, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do it
Any help most welcome
Thanks,
Dom.

I assume you're logo is a .png or .jpg or .tiff file. Just add it as a connected clip above the generator.
Now, you'll probably want a copy of your logo that is high enough resolution and quality, and is a layered PSD file, with a blank layer at the bottom, the logo in the layer above, so you get an alpha channel. That way you udon't get the white "page" covering everything.
Look at my avatar up there on the left. Hand. Then there's the white square around it. That white square you want to get rid of.

Thanks BenB. I do indeed have a .png and .tiff of the logo. I'll try what you suggest

If the generator you want to use animates the logo, then likely there will be a drop zone in the generator for that purpose. Look in the inspector of the generator when selected in the timeline and see if there is a drop zone section. If so, import your logo and then click the drop zone of the generator and select your logo. This will ensure any movement that a custom generator provides for the image will work and may offer scaling and zooming options to fit your logo precisely. If you apply the logo as a connected clip, you will have to manually keyframe any movement of it..
