Final Cut Pro Automations for swapping timelines? was created by johnsingfield
Hi everyone,
So I have a project in mind but I need to do something that would take me an eternity to do manually so I wonder if there could be some trick to do it automatically. Here is the problem: Let's says I have 10 different timelines of the same duration. Each second, I want one timeline to be displayed on the screen. The second after, an other timeline would be active and seen while the others would be hidden. The movie will then continue, swapping between timelines until the end. So manually it would mean editing thousands of time the main timeline to achieve what I want. Is there a way I can do that automatically in FCPX or any other software?

Either do it in Motion with a modulation parameter behavior applied to the upper most clip's opacity. Then on the middle clip, use a link behavior to the upper modulation behavior. Adjust that one to be appropriately offset from the upper one. Bottom video layer will just show when the other two are off. You could even make that a Generator or Effect in FCPX from Motion.
