"We see no foreseeable change in our license relationships with companies like Adobe, Quantel, Silhouette, FXhome, and CoreMelt. Imagineer very recently delivered new and improved updates within Adobe After Effects Creative Cloud 2014 release and the new HitFilm 3 Pro."

coming from that PR-business, I know such a statement has a half-life-period from unter 5 minutes... Maybe I should make myself a nice Xmas gift and finally purchase TrackX
__________
Don't want to push this thread into the wrong direction, but....
in my non-existing techincal understanding, what a planar-tracker does:
it finds automatically usable track-points; track those; and re-establish a "3D impression" of scenery ... correct?
Sounds to me as a plain number-crunching task, tons of trigonometry ("how does this triangle of points behave in correlation to that?", since Newton and his observation of planets no real 'new' thingie; 5y ago a 'hammer', but with now-adays teraflops on GPUs a ... manageable task, not?
Don't get me wrong: a marvel, esp. that 'imagining' part, but... what if Apple creates its own, Motion integrated planar-tracker, embedded deeply into systems like FCPX? .... 'a better tracker' is on many wishlists.... and 'tracking' is actually a fancy tool.-
Plus, 'mocha' as an Adobe-exclusive plug-in would be a good selling point - for Adobe.
.. just some wild speculation without any base ..............

I'll take a simple stab at Planar Tracking. Motion already has a tracker. Planar tracker not only tracks the points (as they all do) but tracks along planes or surfaces. It'll track some things more accurately in 3D space than a simple point tracker.
Given the popularity of TrackX and SliceX, there's a serious need for a good tracker in FCPX. Note that neither of those plugins work in Motion (at the moment) so that would certainly a plus if Imagineer/Coremelt added such. Especially so since there is a version of Mocha for After Effects.
Of course Apple may well have something in the works. I'm not so sure it would be a CoreMelt killer though. Lock&Load, for example, is better in my experience than Apple's own stabilization.
Apple has been so slow at adding new features that I'm no longer holding out hope for short term surprises so plugins are that much more important for adding features.
I suspect we'll see BCC, in which many plugins already have built in trackers, incorporate Imagineer's Planar Tracking. I don't think BCC has been very popular amongst FCPX users. A while back someone from Boris mentioned to me that they were disappointed in BCC sales for FCPX. My own concern is that Boris may pull out of the arrangement with CoreMelt and simply add equivalent to BCC (which is relatively pricey).

That's an interesting quote!
Could mean two things:
* The average FCPX-user is not willing to pay hundreds of $$€€ for 'just' a plug-in (would be interesting, how re:vision/Twixtor sees the market ...) Why? 'cause - myth!! - it's just for unpaid amateurs??
* BCCs offer doesn't hit the market - wooo, what a statement from an amateur like me! But, reading the website.... lots stuff is - myth!!
- avail in FCPX (or Motion) and/or for cheap money or even free (fere at fcp.co) .... Or, you build your own solution with Motion5 - no need for 'ready mades' you see everywhere, just a few Beaviors, and you have your very own, highly individualized lower-thirds...
... and those 'looks' ... imho, ready-mades are more for amateurs (like me), aren't they? A professional colorist fires up Resolve and just does it .... LUTs are nice, again, actually a LUTs'reader' costs 29$ !!!
.... as mentioned: interestering statement, esp. in combo with the many quoted "FCPX was more sold than all versiosn of FC combined before!" ...
I'm convinced, Apple divides the market of features into "us & them": a very comprehensive set included; 'highly special' for 3rd party makers (mObjects as example). And its Secret Weapon Motion, the plug-in-maker for the rest of us...-
call me Cassandra:
in 12month, mocha is Adobe-exclusive ...

Maybe I'm over simplifying but it seems most of the plugins in BCC are similar to other less expensive and more expandable plugin sets. FXFactory comes to mind. RedGiant is interesting with better price options now. BCC's built in tracking for many of their plugins would be unique except CoreMelt's SliceX/TrackX plugins give you that and better for any third party plugin set.
Which is why, despite their claim about no change in CoreMelt partner products from Imagineer/Boris, that Boris would inevitably see SliceX/TrackX as depressing BCC sales to FCPX.
As for BCC and Adobe, I'd add the FXFactory and RedGiant both support Adobe. It may be that BCC's best market is Avid with AVX support. Otherwise BCC may have to consider another price drop. BCC has gone from about $995 to $695 I believe for the FCPX version. I have to think the plugin market is getting tougher for BCC but perhaps that's why purchasing Imagineer is so important to them.
Tangential but I'd note that GenArts pulled out of the lower end plugin market when they killed Sapphire Edge. Sapphire has to be about the most expensive set on the market and, unlike Edge, there's no FCPX support.

Mocha will continue to be offered as a separate product for the time being as the companies work over time to integrate it directly into BCC, where it will eventually offer planar tracking directly from the timeline
So it seems they will merge BCC with Mocha if I understand this correctly.

No, the official press statement on the BCC and Imagineering sites state Imagineering will still operate independently, but with an open door to BCC. The two groups of engineers will support each other and share technologies. But should expand and improve due to this. This type of merger happens often, and both products/companies stay as is for many years. I'm not worried.

I'm quoting Studio Daily.
It looks like they revised the article. It now states:
The companies said that Mocha Pro will continue to be developed by Imagineer Systems as a standalone VFX tool; over time, they plan to integrate Mocha's tracking technology into BCC, where it will eventually also offer planar tracking directly from the timeline.
They've dropped the "for the time being"
