How to uninstall Canon XF plugin for FCPX?

How to uninstall Canon XF plugin for FCPX? was created by Redifer
Since 10.1.4 natively supports importing of MXF stuffs, I'd like to uninstall/remove the Canon plug-ins for FCPX because I think they now might be interfering. I still only get the first 30 seconds of an MXF file when importing, just like the old days. Canon does not offer an uninstaller. Where would such a thing be located so that I may delete it?

Have you tried this?
Uninstalling Canon XF Plugin for Final Cut Pro
Move the following file to [Trash].
/ Library / Application Support / ProApps / MIO / RAD / Plugins / CanonXF.RADPlug
Uninstalling Canon XF MPEG2 Decoder
Move the following file to [Trash].
/Library/QuickTime/XFMpeg2Dec.component
IMPORTANT
If you are using Canon XF Utility, do not uninstall Canon XF MPEG2 Decoder

Just tried that. Didn't make any difference. Still can only play the first 30 seconds of any MXF file unless I convert it with Application first and if I export to MXF it only seems to export about 13 seconds of the video. MXF is really broken!

Hmm. If you've uninstalled it and you still have the problem, then the issue is not the plugin... Do you have other MXF plugins installed ?
(stupid question but have you restarted your computer after, because the plugin might be loaded in the RAM).
Honestly I don't know. Some will probably suggest you to uninstall FCPX completely and re-install it.

I don't know what you have going on, but I just tried importing a one minute, 43 second clip from my Canon XF100 - imported the whole clip like usual. I'm on the latest OS, FCPX, and Canon plugin. I haven't seen any problems at all.
If it matters, I do not import directly from the camera. I import from the card into XF Utility, then import to FCPX from that XF Utility backup. I have no idea if removing the Canon plugin would help your problem or not.
Maybe this will help with troubleshooting.

I'm desperately waiting for Canon to update their MXF plugin for Yosemite. It's great that FCPX now natively supports MXF but I'm not able to import files from the XF100 in one piece, they're chopped into 7-minute-ish chunks which is annoying (I know that this is Canon's fault and not Apple's). That's why I'm still using my old machine with Snow Leopard for which the plugin is available. I really hope Canon will release it asap!

Strange - I still don't have any problems with Yosemite - XF Utility and the XF plugin work flawlessly for me, as they always have. I did have both items already installed before I updated to Yosemite. But as a test I just imported a clip that was over one hour and 18 minutes - comes in perfectly as one file.
That being said, a few days ago there was a new firmware update posted with a corresponding new version of XF Utility and the plugin. But, according to the web site, all the three updates add is support for CF cards >128gb.
I'm not sure I'm going to even install these, but they're here:

That's really interesting. I recently bought a new MacBookPro, Mavericks was pre-installed but I immediately upgraded to Yosemite. From what you're saying the plugin seems to 'live through' an upgrade as long as it was installed before. If it's really like that I should have installed the plugin while still on Mavericks and then upgrade to Yosemite. I was also just wondering if the the little trick that someone posted on fcp.co a long time ago to make the Canon MXF plugin work on Snow Leopard (just remembered that it was actually only available for Lion and up) could work with Yosemite ...

So what happened when you tried to install - did it not install? That new update says it is Yosemite compatible so maybe try that new one? Yes, there have been times in the past where the XF software would work but the installer wouldn't. This would not be the first time the XF stuff "lived through" an update. Sometimes simply grabbing the most recent installer would work after all, but not always. Or, the trick you're talking about (which I assume is just adding the software pieces manually bypassing the installer) might still work. But, again, as of a few days ago there is now a Yosemite installer at the link I posted above.

Hm, I still have the XF plugin installed (have not updated to the Yosemite qualified version), but I have not had problems importing MXF either from a drive or the cards. Also, I have tried direct importing with no re-wrapping (leave in place), and it also works well beyond the 30 second mark. However, I have only tested C300 footage. This is on a machine that was simply updated to Yosemite... repaired permissions and verified everything to work as normal.

Maybe you can try to convert your MXF files to apple prores 422, so that you don't need the Canon XF to help you. Just my advice.
