FCPX update 10.1.4 slowed my computer down...

Has anyone else noticed a huge speed drop in use of FCPX after the update? I was not having any issues on my MacBook Pro... smoking fast and flew through edits. Now, I have to wait as it backups and renders and I never had this sort of headache before. Did something change that I am not aware of and need to do something new in my settings?

Lost and looking for a ray of light.

Thanks,
c

What Mac model & specs?
What OS X version?

Mine is actually the exact same, just launches a tiny bit faster.

OSX 10.9.5
2.6 Ghz Core i7
16GB 1600 DDR3 ram
1 TB SSD Hard Drive

Like I said, this was working smooth and I haven't had any issues until the FCPX latest upgrade. I wish now I hadn't upgraded as I don't care/need MXF features in my day to day workflow.

Are you working off of your system drive? Could be you reached its bandwidth limit. Because 10.1.4 shouldn't effect speed at all, really. An external media drive is strongly recommended for Libraries and media.
- Is this an iMac?
- What year model is it?
- How much of that system drive is free space?

Hmm, I just checked and my internal HD only had 30gigs open... sooooo, I am moving off the Library bundles that are done or on hold.

My normal workflow has been to keep active Library's on the internal HD, ones on hold or waiting for final sign offs on one of two Thunderbolt external HDs, and finished Libray's on our server.

I will clean house and bit and then fire FCPX up and see how things move.

Thanks for the nod to check my HD... rookie mistake! : ]

You'll also get better performance if you leave all Libraries and media on the T'bolt drives, never put them on the internal system drive.

Well, still is not acting like it did before the upgrade.

I guess I will just keep an eye on things to see if I can find out what might be up.

Thanks for replying and offering up some ideas.

Trash prefs (hold Opt+Cntrl when starting FCPX).
Trash all render files.
Repair permissions.
Run Disk Warrior if you have it.
Usual suspects...
