Importing from Sony PMW-200 very slow was created by TonyGemmink
Hi guys,
last week i bought a Sony PMW 200 XDCAM.
Yesterday i filmed some fireworks and i want to import the files to FCPX. The import is (12GB) happening but very very very slow. I use the USB connection at this moment. The files that i import are UDF
HD422 Mode: MPEG-2 422P@HL, 50Mbps/ CBR and i use a Sony SxS-1 Card.
Software latest version of FCPX and OS X 10.9.5 (13F34)
Imac
Processor 3,4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB

Be sure to have the Sony SxS UDF driver installend on your Mac.
You can download it from the Sony support site.
The Sony site can be somehat of a maze when you're looking for drivers but if you do a search for "UDF driver" it will pop up on top of the list.

maybe I'm mislead but according to a Sony site, this is miniUSB - which is, btmk, usb2 only ... not usb3 ...
If so, any ext. card-reader with usb3 connection should improve import speed dramatically ...
'cause 12GBs via usb2 … that's half a day ...

What stupid of me!
I edit videos for 15 years now and changing to other media then tape's caught me off gaurd.
I just copied the file to my HDD and then import it to FCPX. 5 minute job.
Thanks guys!
