FCPX Crashes When Importing was created by kaminote00
I'll keep things short:
Old Mac (spilled on and crashed):
Mid-2009 15" MBP
2.53 GHz processor
4 GB of RAM, no VRAM
Updated to OS X 10.9 Mavericks
250 GB HDD
FCP X 10.1.?
New Mac (secondhand, restored to factory settings):
Late-2009 21.5" iMac
Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz processor
12 GB of RAM, 258MB VRAM
Updated to OS X 10.10 Yosemite
500 GB HDD
FCP X 10.1.3
Had no problems with the old MBP, though FCP was a bit slow, but reliable. As was Motion. But with the new Mac under admin, I attempted to open FCP X and just import some footage for a project I'll be starting in the VERY near future. I haven't even tried to update old libraries (which thankfully, I kept on an external HDD before the old computer crashed) yet. However, when attempting to import multiple clips FCP X 10.1.3 has shut down "unexpectedly" every time. So far, if I choose to import only a single clip, there's no problem. But it is terribly annoying to have to import over 100 clips 1 by 1. I'm getting the feeling this may be the first of many problems I'll encounter with this build. Are there any suggestions on how to work around this? Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, just to bump up.
I could really use some help, or guidance to where I might find help.

Well, oddly enough I managed to work around the problem based on some info from the boards. But everything isn't solved ultimately. I first restarted the computer. Didn't seem to affect crashes. Then I turned off background rendering and tried "reimporting" multiple clips. By some miracle, it didn't crash. So I've left background rendering off.
It still crashes when I try to initially import video from external media (SD or Compaq flash cards); however, if I reimport, it will finish the job. Does anyone know what is causing this problem? Import settings are also set for creating optimized media.
