Can't Import Entire Mp4 Into FCPX

Hi.

I'm trying to import a video my girlfriend made on her windows PC with Windows Movie Maker into FCPx. She exports it as an Mp4, puts it on a flash drive, and gives it to me for some additional changes.

I try to import that file into FCPX, but only the first 1:26 min of the 8:36 min video actually show up in my event browser. I can play the whole movie in my VLC player, so I know the file is working fine.

She's done this with several previous videos, and I can always import the minute or two, but never the whole thing.

Any idea what might be going on?

I have no idea what would be causing it, but out of curiosity I would try converting the file to a .mov or .m4v in something like Handbrake or MPEG Streamclip and see if you can import one of those converted versions in it's entirety. There may be some codec weirdness in the PC export.
