How to create scrolling subtitles was created by wdevn
I currently use the great tool XTI from Andreas Kiel of spheric.com. It really is a flexable time saver. What I am looking for now is a tool that can help create scrolling subtitles that are controlled by time.
Here is an example of what I would like to create:
VOA Learning English
I know FCPX has basic scrolling, but it's a bit limited in how it can be used.
Is there a tool for FCPX that could create this type of scrolling subtitling where I can control the timing?
Thanks!

Hi James,
It's quite easy .
You can use my TextUp (for example) and paste your complete text into the text field.
Select the title and the video in Inspector. Set the desired crop (top) to the value you need.
At start set a keyframe with a huge negative baseline offset (needs some experiment depending on font size and leading). Go to the end of animation time, set a new keyframe with a positive baseline value till the last line isn't visible.
Add a generator behind the title, and the 2 lines above.
You also can open a copy of the title in Motion and add the background and the lines there.

Hello Andreas!
I thought TextUp was only for FCP 7 not FCPX? Can TextUp be used in FCPX?
Thanks!

James,
TextUp is also available in FCP X. Since you already installed XTI it is available in FCP X.
Select Titles, Spherico, TextUp.

Thanks! ...Now, this will help a lot! Thanks again Andreas!
--- Well, after a look at TextUp, I am lost on how to use it. I will see how far I can get with it. It looks like I will have to use some FCPX Kung Fu to get it going. Show you what I did later.

James,
If there is Kung Fu it is Kung Fu for penguins.
I've attached an XML where you can see how it could be done in 2 different ways.
First with TextUp and controllable keyframes, second with the Scrolling title and automatic speed.
