I have just completed a feature doc on Final Cut 10.1.3 and I am about to travel from one side of the world to the other to do post. I would like to consolidate my project into a workable size so that I do not have to travel with three 8 Terrabyte G Raid drives.
What I have been trying to do is to duplicate my project so that only the clips used in the final cut are copied not all clips in my library. However it is either not possible or I am, more than likely, doing something wrong. I need to have this done ASAP as I leave on Friday.
Any thoughts, suggestions, links, resources, whatever would be very much appreciated.
Cheers.

1. Create a new library.
2. Set the Media Storage Locations options for the new library to store media and cache files in a folder on some hard drive that's big enough to hold the whole project
3. Make a copy of the most recent Project(s) in the new Library you created in step 1.
4. There is no step 4
5. Select the Library you created in Step 1 and copied the Project(s) into in step 3 and in the Library Properties Inspector click the Consolidate button. You can choose whether or not co copy over the render/optimized files.
Wait for it to finish. It will make a copy of the just the media you need to play back the Projects(s) in that Library.
Note that if your Project uses small clips from super long takes of interview footage, FCPX has to copy those clips in their entirety into the Media Storage Location folders. It can't just copy the bits you used.
