Hi Steve,
Are these Events in the same Library or are they spread across different Libraries?

Hi Ronny,
most are in one library but a couple are on different drives in different libraries.
If I find a easy way from the one library that would be great.
Thanks
Steve

If the media you want to use for your Highlights Project is stored in different Events in the same Library:
1. Create a new "Highlights" Event in that Library and in the "Highlights" Event create a new "Highlights" Project. If you have different media formats in your Events make sure to set a fixed Format, Resolution and Frame rate for the Video Properties of your "Highlights" Project.
2. Now go through all your Events, select the clips you will use for your Highlights Project and ALT-drag these clips onto the "Highlights" Event to copy them to this Event. This will not create duplicate media.
- Why is it important to ALT-drag and not just drag: when you just drag the clips onto the "Highlights" Event the clips will be moved from the original Event to the "Highlights" Event and they will disappear from the original Event. So always make sure to ALT-drag the clips.
- The beauty of FCP X is that when the clips that you copy belong to a Keyword Collection, they will automatically be put into the same Keyword Collection in the "Highlights" Event.
If you want to add extra clips from other Libraries to the "Highlights" Event:
Open the other Libraries, select the clips you want to use for your Highlights Project and drag these clips onto the "Highlights" Event. You will get a warning that you are copying clips between Libraries. Just press OK to confirm. Clips from different Libraries are always copied by default, not moved.
If you want to add parts of existing Projects to the "Highlights" Project:
Open the original Project, select the part you want to use and press CMD+C to copy the selection. Then switch to the "Highlights" Project timeline and paste (CMD+V) the selection onto the "Highlights" timeline.
- If the original Project is inside the same Library as the "Highlights" Project no media will be copied or moved. The selection will be pasted onto your "Highlights" timeline and the clips on the timeline will linked to the master clips in their original Events.
- If the original Project is in a different Library you will get a message that you are editing clips between Libraries. Just press OK to confirm. Clips and media will be copied to the Library where your "Highlights" Project resides. Media stored in external folders will be left in place.
