Export video roles

Hi guys

First of all my apologies because my question has certainly been answered before, but could not find it.

I've set a lot of video roles and subroles in a project. I want to export selectively those roles (as I have done 10 test versions I want to try out).

I go to export master, then Quicktime as multiple tracks, and I select ONLY the role I want to have.

Unfortunately, at export I am getting all the subroles in the video.

I know how to export selectively AUDIO roles, but can't seem to have it working with VIDEO. What am I doing wrong ?

(Alternatively if you have a better workflow to suggest when I want to make 10 tests on my timeline, it's welcome).

This is a novel use of roles. There is no good way to do this with roles of you have attached audio. If the audio is detached you should be able to select items you don't want and disable them with the V key.

It's something that could be implemented in the share module. Usually versioning is done with snapshots or duplicate projects. There is no reason it couldn't be done your way; the app's just not been designed that way. Audio roles let you contain separate stems in a single QuickTime file, but it can only contain one video stem coming from FCP.

I'm not sure I'm understanding your question. Are you trying to make multitrack quicktimes with multiple VIDEO roles, like as separate video tracks? That's not possible. You'll only get one video stream. A common thing to have, for example, is a textless master and a texted master, and you can manage this with roles, but they have to be two different files. It would be a cool feature, though.

Actually my question was somewhat different: I was having trouble exporting my video with selected video roles only. But I seem to have it working now so I'm not sure what was going wrong.
