The prescision editor shows unused portions of 2 clips at a cut point. If you have track skimming turned on you can JKL play along these unused portions. Does anyone know if there is a keyboard shortcut that will then snap the cut to that point, either extending or shortening the edit? If you click with the mouse it works but it's not accurate.

This could be a great way to accurately trim audio as you can open the precision editor, play backwards or forwards to the edit point and then somehow snap to that point

All the tutorials I watched show dragging clip edges, hardly precision

Shift-X will ripple or roll the edit point to the skimmer or playhead.

I use the comman/period keys. I call the greater-than and less-than symbols my "editing arrows". Along with up/down arrows to get from one edit point to the other, and the brackets selecting which side to ripple, backslash selecting a roll edit, I find it really fast and easy to make surgically precise edits. But alas, there is no "dynamic editing" in FCPX, yet.
