Imported Footage MP4 and Jpegs go missing was created by Moragas
Hi There,
I am finding that importing, with copy media to project selected, for jpeg files and mp4 files, that the footage goes off line. What I am left with is a whole series of files with sim links but no footage. The solution is to copy into the original media folder, in the bundle, for the library the files but it's a huge waste of time.
Why is this happening?

Hi Rob,
When you import with "Copy to Library" selected FCP X will copy all your footage into the Original Media folder of the Library.
When you import with "Leave Files in Place" selected FCP X will only create links to the folder or the drive where your original footage is located. When you disconnect the drive, or you move the folder where the original footage is located, FCP X will obviously lose those links and your clips will go offline in FCP X.
So either you copy the footage into the Library, or you create links to the original footage and you make sure the original footage is aways available.
