Selection in Browser has stuck In or Out points.

Ever since it became possible to have multiple non-contiguous selections in the browser I have had a problem.

Frequently I make a single selection and then I want to change the in or out point of the selection but I find that when I try to move the in or out point with the mouse, then it is stuck and cannot be moved. Okay, so I can move it by just pressing "I" or "O" at the relevant place, but by that method I cannot easily select a particular duration, whereas by using the mouse I can see the duration of the selection, so it is easy to make the selection a bit shorter or longer if need be and know the duration of the final selection.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Does anyone have a solution?

I am using a 2009 Mac Pro with OS X Mavericks.

What version of the application is this? Are you in filmstrip or list view? You might need to change the scale. With long clips grabbing the ends of a selection can be difficult.

If you want to modify the in or out point of a selection using the mouse: hover over the edge of the selection until you see a double-pointed arrow. Then you can drag on the edges to change the selection. While you drag you will see an indicator telling you exactly how long your selection is. This works both in filmstrip and in list view.

If this does not work for you I would delete the FCP X preferences, then try again.
