Hello all,
I would like to know what's the best workflow to import FCPX images, when they are larger than Full HD. Do you go thru Photoshop and then to FCPX? Are there any way to optimise stills automatically?
When dealing with tiny deadlines and several images, specially PNGs, I find hard time to do it, was thinking if someone have a better workflow.
Thank you very much.

You can batch convert in Preview really easily. If I'm not doing zooms & Pans on them, I take them down to roughly the frame size of my project. If I am doing zooms & pans, I keep them somewhat larger. But you don't want them too large.
Select them all at once, open in Preview. Select on in the left hand thumbnail column, Select All, go to the Tools menu, "Adjust Size", and type in the size you want them all conformed to. Leave the option to scale in order to preserve aspect ratio checked. Then with them all still selected, Export. Very easy.
Is there a way to do this automatically? Good questions. Wonder if Preview could be controlled like that with an Automator script?

Yes you can set up Automator scripts to make resizing and renaming as easy as selecting all the images then drag and drop on Automator services icon.
You can even make it use 3rd party apps like Pixelmator or use built in Preview.

Lots of automator workflows available on the web, or just make your own. You get to define size/resolution and format within Automator. Since it is a Service Script, it is available System wide.
Hope this helps, Greg

Just a couple of more sites in case you have never used Automator.
www.macosxautomation.com/automator/
Click through and has good explanations of how to do Automator workflows.
www.raywenderlich.com/58986/automator-fo...utorial-and-examples
Lots of other sites out there.
I keep various Automator scripts for all the things I find myself having to repeat often.
You can also use Applescript to create even more advanced actions.
Hope this helps, Greg
