Error on Import was created by cavideopro
System: IMAC 27" 4.0 I7
6tb Thunderbolt External Drive
FCPX 10.1.3
I have one file that will not import. I have tried to copy the card to a hard drive and import from there. I have created a new library. I have tried iMovie but got the same message. I have trashed preferences. All other files from the card import except for this one. It shows up in the browser, I just can not do anything with it until it is imported. I can see the footage and scrub through, just can not import.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

You need to give complete specs of the media. What's the camera that shot this? Is this in the same format and spec as the rest of the media on the card? What's different about this clip? Anything you can think of?

Recording Camera: Panasonic AC-90
Recording Media Sandisk 64 GB SD Card
Nothing different about this file than others.
Recorded at 1080 60p
File length 8 min 51 sec
It is crazy that the computer can see the entire file but can not import it.

Close FCP. Open the card and find the clip that won't import. I don't know what structure that camera uses exactly. Once you've located the clip, Option drag it to copy it out of the card or disk image or archive or whatever you're importing from. Open the copy in the QT player? Does it open? If yes, launch FCP and see if you can drag it into the browser.

It's AVCHD so quicktime will not read the raw footage without transcode (I think)

Wow! I was completely wrong. Didn't know quicktime could do that. I opened up and I am exporting file now.

Exporting the file? No. There is no export function in the QTX player. Or are you saving it? Can you drag the file into the FCP browser?

I was able to export the file as a QT Movie and it worked! I dropped the movie into my library and I am now transcoding. Thank you!
