Syncing audio problems?

Syncing audio problems? was created by Seany
I'm looking for any tips on syncing in camera and external audio, I have both of a presentation, the in camera audio was recorded at about a 6 metre distance and hence this audio waveform does not match with the external audio recorded from the speakers mic into the zoom, i'm having real problems lining up both audio's and it is always slightly out, any tips to get frame accurate sync, I find audio scrubbing helps to a point but as one slows down audio scrubbing i find it hard to differentiate sounds from each other.

FCP X does this for you very easily.
Select both clips in the browser, control-click, choose Synchronize Clips...

Not sure why the audio waveforms would not match up. 6 meters isn't that far for sound to travel.
If the auto sync function is not doing the job, simply create a marker at some significant event on each clip. Then line up the markers.

the auto-synching does wonders .. here.
Even with diff. recording devices, 'miles' apart.
Another, manual approach:
Select the audio-clip, hit space/play, and hit (option+) comma/point to nudge the clip in tiny steps back/forth ...

Hi
Just a quick one... What cameras were used ? I had an issue before where the sound on one Cam was at a different rate than another camera. So when you play them in the time line or sync them, they would be synced for about 3 sec max and would then go out. It was with FCP 7 though ... I sorted the issue by resampling the video file and it sorted the problem.
My cameras used was a JVCHM150 shot at 720 50p and a Nikon d7000 shot in 1920 x 1080
