Upgrade Disaster

I was in the middle of editing 3 music videos, when I foolishly decided to upgrade from 10.08 to 10.1.3.
They were 3 multi cam edit projects inside 3 events.
After upgrading there is 1 library containing the 3 events, each event containing 1 project. No 1 project has survived, No 2 has survived, but No 3 project has been replaced by a duplicate of No.2. The clip files in the event are correct, just the project has disappeared and been replaced with No.2.
I am seething, a week's work down the toilet for a client that is paying peanuts.
Is there anything I can do?

If, when you updated the old projects and events, you saved them you should be OK.
Put the correct project folder to backup on a drive inside a folder at the root level called Final Cut Projects. Put the events folders needed for that project on the same drive in a folder called Final Cut Events.
Rerun the update process.

Hi Tom,
Can you explain a little more clearly for the hard of thinking? Step by step? Everything is on an external Thunderbolt Drive.
Thanks!

ah wait - I just went File> Open Library "G-Drive with Thunderbolt's Project and Events" and found an event called 'Updated Projects' In there is the edit I need!
How do I get that back in the right place?

Every time 10.1.x updates old events and projects it updates the drive, so you'll have an other library with the same name. So first I'd suggest renaming the drive to something simple.
From the updated projects and events folder that you found take the project folder that you want to update and put it in a folder at the root level, right at the top, of the drive in a folder called Final Cut Projects. That's the only place FCP will look for it. Take the associated events folders and put them in a folder called Final Cut Events. The folders have to have those names, nothing else, and not be any where else. Run the update process again.

Morning!
I seem to have been able to fix things by opening FCPX, going File>Open Lbrary>G Drive with Thunderbolt's projects and events, then dragging the project from the library "G-Drive with Thunderbolt's Project and Events" to the correct event.
Hope I have done the right thing?

You can do that if you want, but you don't have it. When the old projects get updated they get lumped into a separate event for projects. I would have preferred if the projects had gone into their default events.
