Importing orphaned .MTS files

Hi. I am new to this forum and need some help. I signed on to edit video for some regular talks at a monastery about 5 hours from me. So upon agreeing, I returned home and was dropboxed a bunch of orphaned .MTS files from a Canon camera. Until I get the monastery to buy a new camera (or buy them one) I am stuck with trying to import these files into Final Cut. I still have Final Cut 10.0.9. Can 10.1 import .MTS files minus their structure from the camera files? I tried using iSkysoft Converter to transcode them into both .mov and .mp4 files but both produced wavy, grainy video. I also tried Total Video Converter and the files looked like crap. Any other suggestions? I am just trying to upload clear Youtube videos. My 1.9.3 version of MPEG Streamclip won't open the files for conversion. Thanks!

The current version of FCP, 10.1.3, can import orphaned .mts files.

Hi Douglas, welcome to the forum.

Tom is correct (as always). Plus I would like to add that I am glad you have confirmed once again that those cheap MTS converters that are promoted in spam messages on different forums really produce crappy video and should not be used for any serious work. Thank you for warning people against this.
