Hi
Having a LOOOOONG running project since March I haven't updated FCP yet. I don't want to go over to Yosemite just yet.
I have watched all the videos I can on the new features, backed everything up including 10.1.1.
What are the potential issues, problems or pit falls? For the first time this year I am clear of edits until Monday.
Oh and I HAVE brought the software....... Saw that post earlier

None. New feature that allows you to assign media and cache storage preferences on a library by library basis. Library properties appear in the inspector when the library is selected.

Hi Rob,
You may want to take a look at this blog post by Philip Hodgetts
www.philiphodgetts.com/2014/06/final-cut-pro-x-10-1-2/
Covers most of the library structure changes.
MacBreak Studio has some vids too, you may have seen.
As Tom says, 10.1.2/3 gives you more flexibility/control on where to store media/cache.
If I remember correctly, you cannot open libraries updated to 1.2/3 in 1.1 anymore.
Hope this helps, Greg

Greg's right. You never have backward compatibility unless you store the old library and a copy of the application if you need to go back to 10.1.1.

Well 11am tomorrow will be the time. I have backups of everything I might need including FCP in a ZIP.
I might have to change my workflow, I use Post Haste with a template library inside for my jobs with keywords and smart collections all setup.
I will let you know tomorrow.......

You're pretty well protected if you follow the advice above. I've just found out I'm clear to update as well, and this is a big broadcast job, so I'm being very careful about it. Here my plan:
1. Copy 10.1.1 Library files to external drive and set it aside.
2. zip FCPX v10.1.1 inside the applications folder.
3. Download and install 10.1.3 from MAS, and try upgrading a project.
4. If something goes awry, you can always delete the new FCPX and unzip the old one, then replace the altered library file with your external Library backup.
I'm not sure how I can be any more safe about it, and since my online house is now on Resolve 11, I'll get better compatibility if I upgrade to FCPX 10.1.3.
