I have experience a lot of trouble with my final cut since I updated to Yosemite.
First problem, I couldn't direct open it. Have to open it thru package content
Second problem, It won't open my backup library that Im working from.
Three, it quits unexpectedly every time I am actually trying to do something while Im in the program.
To update it from App Store is not an option, hehe

Thanks in advance,
Aleks

What version of FCP are you using? 7/X??
Have you rebuilt FCP preferences?
Did you do a clean install of the Yosemite or just update over older OS?
Have you tried to rebuild system permissions and run daily, weekly, monthly maintenance scripts since updating OS?
I like to use Titanium Software "Onyx" Link… www.titanium.free.fr/downloadonyx.php (Note Yosemite version is still in development, but he maintains Onyx so new version should be soon).
Try these first. Sounds like you have some form of corrupted files somewhere. You may need to reinstall FCP or maybe even Yosemite if having problems in other apps.
Why can't you use App Store? FCP7??
Hope this helps, Greg

I have currently 10.1.1. It is FCPX. How do I rebuild it?
I did both, same problem on either on. I did a clean install and also updated over older OS, first I updated over, then did a clean install.
How do I run rebuild system permissions?
What means with the Titanium Software?
Just problem with this program, no other programs. I can't use App Store because I didn't get it from there.
Thank you guys, and sorry Im not that familiar with this world, so thank you for helping me out!

I have a solution for you:
Find someone who actually purchased Final Cut from Apple.
Go to their house. Break In. Tie them up and beat them until they give up their AppleID and password. Then kill them. Then take their credit cards and their computer. Now you have a working copy of Final Cut Pro X.
If you're going to be a thief, don't be a stupid thief.

In the mid-1980s and early 90s I lived in Berkeley California and was part of the Berkeley Macintosh User Group(BMUG). At that time I was also involved in getting a Mac OS to run on an Atari ST computer. Was it “legal”?, no. At one of the working groups of BMUG, an original Macintosh engineer was curious about how well Mac OS ran on the Atari ST. I won't say the name of the engineer, But his name appears embossed inside of the Mac Plus and Macintosh SE.
Does Apple steal? What did Steve Jobs say?…
Apple and Xerox PARC
What does this have to do with Final Cut Pro X?
We really do not know whether the OP has in fact pirated Final Cut Pro 10 or whether there's another issue that prevents him/her from using the App store. No matter what, priracy does not equal murder of one's neighbor, therefore, I believe it is just better that here on this forum we try to help anyone we can.
Glass houses and stones.
If it is a copy lifted off the internet, there could of course be malware installed in the program download. This is indeed beyond the forum to solve.
Hope this helps, Greg

If the software hasn't come from the App Store, or been initialized by the App Store, it's not a legally owed copy and can't be legally updated. The solution to the problem is the user has is to update the software. There is no other legal solution, and I, nor I hope any one else on this forum, would show the user how to circumvent that.

Do you think maybe I was being hyperbolic in my murder-you-neighbour analogy at the service of humour? There's no grey area here. The dude clearly admitted to (gleefully) pirating the app. ("...To update it from App Store is not an option, hehe
..."). I'm not the morality police and if he wants to pirate software all day long, more power to him. But he's a moron for coming into a forum like this and asking for help. Full stop. And that quote is misattributed to Picasso. There's no credible record of him actually saying that. But Steve Jobs never let the truth stop him, right?
