[solved] Audio and Video Problems in FCP Projects after update (XML specific?) was created by zpvvvbvouklcmtuscc
Hey everyone,
I recently updated to FCPX 10.1.3 from 10.1.
I am currently working at a small company, developing a software that is working with FCPX Projects via xml. Since the update and fcpxml v1.4, the communication between both softwares broke down. Neither our exports nor older fcpxml v1.3 files (exported with FCPX) create a proper project in FCPX 10.1.3. Some videos are shown black, some audio streams are missing. Is the new fcpxml v1.4 format required for the new FCPX version? I noticed a few structure changes and already read the documentation, but why isn't FCP supporting his own export files?
Hope there is someone out there who can help me :>

Hi Patrick, welcome to the forum.
Yes, fcpxml v.1.4 is required for FCP X 10.1.3. And no the xml formats are not backwards compatible, probably because the format is changing so drastically with every update.
XML should not be used to open older FCP X projects in new versions of the software, FCP X has its own internal updating technology for updating older projects to newer versions.
When the fcpxml format gets updated, any application that imports fcpxml should be updated as well to accommodate for the new format (assuming the fcpxml update modifies specific parts of the xml format that this application needs). Since fcpxml v.1.4 there have been updates for Resolve, X2PRO and many other applications to accommodate for the changed xml format.

Hi Ronny,
thank you for the clarification! We are going to update our software then. We just didn't notice the new fcpxml version till now.
Kind regards.
