FCP X With Movierecorder 3 was created by Bluebicycle
I'm about to use Softron Movierecorder 3 with FCP X to turnround a half hour location edit. I've got a Blackmagic Decklink Duo inside a Magma Express Box 1T for capture and had terrible audio sync problems with MR2.I was still using FCP7 then.
I capture 2 x 720X 576 ProRes files onto 2 Thunderbolt 8TB GRaids and a Macbook Pro with 8Gb of Ram. I can live with breakup, but not audio sync issues. Its terribly difficult to resync the files and I suspect will be even harder in X than 7. So this is a first -MR3 and FCPX. Love to hear if anyone's had problems and what the pitfalls might be.
Sometimes in the past with MR2 these files (Main and Iso) would be out of sync right from the start of the recording. I'm assured that the software has been rewritten to fix this. I've successfully done 2 X HD recordings with same kit and not had dropped frames indication, so pretty sure there's enough Bandwith. The Macbook is a 2012 model and is dedicated to recording only.

I will be interested to read if anyone else has had problems, just about to buy a complete new studio
My thread on a new setup
Like you I wont have time to "FIX" problems, have you spoken to Softron about this? They appear to be very quick to responding?

Yes Softron support is very good, but they never really got to the bottom of the sync issues. There were seldom dropped frames reported in the log. Softron did say something about the way the Quicktime APIs are written for developers could cause problems with sync, and hence the re-write for MR3. I'm not techy enough to know what has changed.
Its one of those things that seems fundamental to me. I can cope with the odd frame of black or breakup, but out of sync audio is a serious problem. Even MR2 apparently had sophisticated processes to drop audio samples when frames are dropped, to get back in sync, but I still had loads of problems. I really don't think it was hardware related, as i had a dedicated Macbook Pro with locally attached striped Thunderbolt drives and was often only recording one channel of SD SDI video to Prores422
