Hepp,

I´m building a rig for a lower third package, I want the editors to be able to adjust the length of the animation as the name length varies. The easiest way would be to have slider where you adjust the length. This where all things come to a halt. How do you do that?

What behavior are you using for the animation?

Three parts move in from of screen. Text layers are revealed from under masks. Logo has fade in/out. The three parts disappear under masks.

Not sure what you're doing. You want the reveal form under the masks to change speed depending on the length of the text? Sounds like a Sequence Text behavior should be used. Any examples you could post?

I want the length of the middle part, the part where all animation have stopped to be editable in FcpX. For instance, one of the politicians we interview has 54 letters in her name another one has 8. So the length of the L3 need´s to be editable. The perfect widget would be the slider. But as stated I really don´t know how to do this. So all advice is much appreciated.

P.S the pics are not in order, I tried to arrange them in order but Fcp.co seem´s to dictate the order:(

Ah, I see! If I understand, here's what I would do. One of two ways, the second one is simpler, but the first offers some other possibilities.

1- Put the shapes (line, rectangle) that have to scale together, in a Group by themselves. Apply a Shape Mask (a square shape as source) to that Group, drawing it over to the right side of your line and rectangle. Then set that source square's Anchor Point to the right edge of the square. Then publish the X parameter of that. That way your actually covering the right edge of both the line and rectangle together at the same time, with one control.

2- Put the shapes (line, rectangle) that have to scale together, in a Group by themselves. Then set that Group's Anchor Point to the left edge of the square. Then publish the Scale X parameter of the Group.

Does that work for you?

How about linking the object edge to an OSC then you could manually adjust that?

Where is the OSC option to control the edge of a rectangle?

(On screen Control)

Hey, even easier! Put the shapes in a Group, publish the Right parameter in the Crop section of the Properties inspector! Done! I don't think there's an OSC control for the edge of a shape, unless it is hidden somewhere.

Sorry Ben I was not clear about what I want to do, I´m not talking about width, what I need is for the length (time wise) of the L3 to be adjustable.
