Hi there,
Is it possible to replace a watermarked music track in the timeline whilst retaining all of the edit points?

These are the two ways I have done it... I DON'T recommend is the first way.
1.
With FCPX not running, dive into the Library. Here you can replace the original MP3 or wave with the clean version, making sure to delete any optimized versions as well. FCPX should recognize the new clip as the original... If not, do a relink. (test this workflow before you commit) not all websites treat their files the same. FCPX can be picky.
OR the better way...
2.
Before you start editing the clip, make the song into a compound clip. Then Edit the clip as normal. When everything is approved and you have the new clean clip, dive into the compound clip and either do a replace edit, OR disable the watermarked version and connect clip the clean version. When you go back to the project all instances of the compound clip will be updated with the clean clip.
