I have an hour and a half Keynote presentation and the client has decided they want it split into 5 sections on Youtube. Instead of uploading 1 video file to Youtube, they want to break the video into 5 videos, and make a playlist. I was trying to find the easiest way to export this from FCPX. Currently everything is in the same timeline/project.

Is there a way I can put in 5 markers for where the chapters should be and have FCPX export 5 different videos? Should I dup the project 5 times and just physically cut it all? Does anyone have any ideas?

Mike

Mark the first section with in and out points. Export. As soon the export has begun you can mark the second sectio withI/O and export that. Repeat. Wait for all five files to finish processing.

Do you know if I can use "Send to Compressor" and repeat steps so I can create a Batch Export or does this only work for exporting from within FCPX?

Tom Wolsky is right, you don't need to use compressor. Just use the range tool to mark in and out points on your project, then use the share button to export it, and the second you send it to start exporting it, do the same thing but with a new range on the timeline. do this 5 times. shouldn't take you more than about 1 minute of time or less.

When you export in FCPX, it actually does batch exporting for you. You can do batch exporting in Compressor, but if FCPX does batch exporting, all you really need Compressor for is creating templates of different types of exports you'll need. Do everything else inside FCPX.

It's quite interesting what happens when you send to Compressor. The whole project loads in Compressor, each one with the separate I/O that you marked when you sent it. Personally I find send to Compressor pretty slow and prefer using export using Compressor settings for custom settings.
