Audio set up for recording voice over was created by Brinky
Hi,
This is my setup:
iMac 2013
Rhode NT1a, Shure X2A to record voice over
Belkin thunderbolt express dock
KRK 6 speakers, Samson mixer, edirol ua1 to playback audio.
It works but perhaps there is a better solution with better sound and for editing on a macbook when I'm on the road. Any recommendations?
btw I occasionally record guitar play via garageband via the audio input of the Belkin (which comes with a lot of noise)
TIA
(i think i posted this in the wrong forum excusez moi)

That's a nice set up for voice work. Nice mic. I hope you have the shock mount and pop-filter for it, also. Very important to have.
Your rig could be simplified, though. The X2A, UA1, and mixer could all be done away with (unless you're using the mixer to control faders in a DAW), and Belkin can all be done away with and replaced with one unit. Easier to travel with, easier to deal with when recording.
Get a single USB audio in/out interface. You have two now, one for mic input, one for audio output. Sell both, get one box that you can use for both your mics and audio montiors. Like this.

If you need to record more than two audio sources at once, then get an audio i/0 interface with more channels.

Your setup is fine.
What makes the most difference is the environment in which the VO is recorded.
Those portable vocal booths are very good at getting rid of the colouration an untreated room adds to a recording. SE make the best one IMO.
And of course your talent, its not as easy as most people think performing a decent VO..

Thanks. I forgot to mention that I do have the SE. To get rid of the belkin, I don't know that. I use it for firewire and as a accessible usb hub. But I'll have a look at the suggestions.
