I have been working on this for the past couple of days. My fcpx crashed and when I repopened one my events was corrupt which had most of my work in it.

BTW, so I am working with RED and transcoded everything to proxies.. this is a feature film

So yes you do have to copy some things manually.

For Example for me an Event got corrupted and most of my media was offline even if I tried to import that EVENT from the backup Library.

So what you want to do in order to get it open is too open up your Backup(Autosave) Library by going to SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS: and then to the folder of the corrupted event and then copy everything over into your Original Library- EXCEPT FOR Transcoded Media and Orignal Media and Render Files. So now the corrupt part of you event has been fixed and it is still pointing your media that you were using before..

Also I had 5 or 6 backups of my library so I messed around a lot..so be careful!

Hope this helps. Its very late now, I hope I was clear enough. Let me know if you have any questions.

Or you could do it the easy way. Select the Library your corrupted Event is in, go to File > Open Library > From Backup, then select which backup you want to look at. Logically, I go from more recent and work backwards chronologically. Each will open as a new Library, so nothing you currently have open is touched. That will get you back to the last non-corrupted version the fastest.

No that doesn't work, trust me I've tried that.

The proxies do not link, if you open a backup library. Simply because it has symlinks pointing to it.

In my case I'm working with ALOT of RED PROXIES. And re-transcoding would take a week.

Ah, I see, it wasn't the Library database specifically, you had to move the original to get relinked faster. Got it.

Just curious, but did you try deleting generated event files from within FCPX and selecting ALL render files, and optimized and proxy media settings? I would think this would do the same thing with the exception of deleting the original media.

Hey yes I did, but that would mean I would Re-Transcode all the proxies all over again.. which would take more than a week.

I was confused about your post thinking that by not copying the transcoded media, you had in fact had to re-render optimized media. But you are saying you kept the transcoded media and render files from the original project while moving all the other backup database files, correct?

Yes that's correct!

That's where the lightblub went on for me, which was just to replace the database files from the backup library.

That's good information to know. Maybe a feature request might be to have the ability to selectively replace files from a backup without going thru the finder. Thanks for sharing.
