Corrupt Library? was created by 600se
Hi everyone,
In a bit of trouble and hoping someone here can help.
Running FCPX 10.1.3 on a brand new Mac Pro and was simply color correcting a clip when the spinning ball came up. I let it spin for a few minutes and decided to force quit and restart. Once FCPX was open again I noticed the library was there but all of my events, keywords, clips and projects where gone. The project timeline is still there but all the clips are black and no audio. Did a "show package contents" on the library and all the clips are still there, just not coming through to fcp. Any ideas? I'm hoping its as simple as trashing some corrupt file and then they'll all come back, keywords, edits and all.

2 things to try right away.
First, hold the Option+Command keys when launching FCPX to delete the pref files.
Second, try opening the last backup of the Library. Select it in the Libraries pane, then File > Open Library > From Backup. Try the most recent, work backwards if necessary.

I am trying to use the 'relink files' from the file menu. All of the missing clips come up but I cant open get into the library to select them.
Also restore from back up seems to have created a new library that shows the clips as missing files. Showing package contents of that new library reveals no clips are in there. Would it be a case of copying everything manually to this new library?

Hey!! The same thing happened to me and I just figured it out! I have been at it for the past couple of days.
So yes you do have to copy some things manually.
For Example for me an Event got corrupted and most of my media was offline even if I tried to import that EVENT from the backup Library.
So what you want to do in order to get it open is too open up your Backup(Autosave) Library by going to SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS: and then to the folder of the corrupted event and then copy everything over into your Original Library- EXCEPT FOR Transcoded Media and Orignal Media and Render Files. So now the corrupt part of you event has been fixed and it is still pointing your media that you were using before..
Also I had 5 or 6 backups of my library so I messed around a lot..so be careful!
Hope this helps. Its very late now, I hope I was clear enough. Let me know if you have any questions.

In the Finder, go into the library bundle and copy the original media folder to someplace like your Movies folder that FCP can relink to.
