Alternatives to X2Pro?

Evening all,

Does anyone have recommendations for AAF translation outside of X2Pro? As far as I can tell it's the only option besides painstakingly putting everything through another NLE. Am encountering buggy results with X2Pro.

01:42:50:00 runtime, 2000+ audio clips, most are multichannel (7) mono .wav files. Have been able to diagnose and remedy many early error messages dealing with problematic associations with RED files, but now encountering Error Code 0x80000005 about 95% through AAF creation. In touch with X2Pro support but am week behind on delivery to re-recording mixer. Received good advice on checking file permissions, but after extensively reviewing and ensuring all were read/write and unlocked, still no dice.

I remember Automatic Duck had a solution in 2011/2012 but seems to be rendered obsolete now? Successful advice to be rewarded with great karma, free beer, or iTunes gift card.

Warm regards on the verge of panic,
Drew

The AutomaticDuck solution won't work with any relatively recent version of FCP X.

The only other viable option is to use Xto7 to convert and import into Final Cut Pro 7, then export an OMF out from there.

I've been using X2Pro on my TV series for months now without issues, albeit on much shorter Projects.

I would keep working with the X2Pro support, and in the meantime if you have FCP7, get going on a Xto7 conversion as a backup plan.

Checking file permissions is imperative with this workflow. It also better to deliver AAF in reels (chunks of about 20 minutes) instead of one long file. Much easier for translation and troubleshooting, and it's very easy to assemble these reels back to one timeline in ProTools.
