Final Cut is throwing an error message & not exporting the footage

I can't seem to export media. It seems as though there is a pause in the system but nothing happens.
When I try using compressor or export using compressor settings iFinalCut Pro is throwing error "The operation couldn't be completed (com.apple.compressor.compressorKit.Err or Domain errror -1).

I need to render out footage and can't get it to work. Please advise.
(the only change to my Final Cut/Mac is that it recently had me update the IOS).

What are the exact versions of the software and the OS are you talking about?

OS X 10.9.5,
Final Cut Pro 10.0.3

You need to update. 10.0.3 is three years old and not compatible with Mavericks.
The current version is 10.1.3.

Thank you for the response. It seems upgrading is the only way to go.

Sadly the only major issue is that the initial install was done by an ex who did it as a gift. we aren't on speaking terms so i have no means to login as him into the system. So i'm basically screwed and have to buy the software again.
