Thunderbolt drive and Audio graph rendering was created by wdevn
Ni Hao Everyone!
I just captured over two hours of a live event in ProRes 422 and after importing to a single disk USB3 drive, FCPX took clear over an hour to just render the Timeline audio graph! I couldn't export the video before the Timeline audio graph updated. After theTimeline graph updated, I could export.
My question is would a Thunderbolt drive speed up audio graph rendering in the Timeline?
Thanks!

Hey James,
When you import hour long clips and you need to export immediately again you have to make sure you don't let FCP X analyze the audio waveforms. Here's some tips I learned from the excellent article on how FCP X was used for the Tour de France:
"If you import a six hour clip, FCPX will quite happily sit there analysing the audio to build the waveform. You can cancel one of the processes in the Background Tasks window, but there is another process behind that that will only stop if you restart FCPX."
"The moral of the story is to not import an hours-long clip with the Inspector open as this will trigger off the waveform generation and slow things down when working on a SAN. Also make sure the waveform display on clips in the browser is turned off and try to avoid opening up the audio components in the Inspector as that will slow things down too. Again, this was only necessary because we had such incredibly long clips."

Thanks Ronny!
I was wondering why this was going on. I must have miss this point about importing long clip into FCPX from Peter's post. I will go back now and memorize it!
Should I report this the Apple? This would slow things down a bit for people who need to import large files.
Thanks again Ronny!!!
