OSX 10.9.5
Final Cut Pro Trial 10.1.3
iMovie 10.0.0.5
iMac i7 3.4ghz 16gb ram

Trying to export a movie project to Final Cut Pro. In iMovie I go to send it to Final Cut Pro via the "Send movie to Final Cut Pro" it goes through a loading sequence (similar to when it starts) and then I get the spinning beachball and iMovie is locked up.

I have tried having Final Cut Pro Trial open in the background and having it closed, same result. Sometimes I get the error sound at the completion of the loading of the iMovie movie data sometimes I don't.

The whole purpose of doing the trial is is taking a project I worked on in iMovie and see what I can do to it in FCP X.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You mean IMovie 10.0.5, right? There may be some content in the project that's not compatible.

Tried different projects, even a very basic project.

Are there certain elements I should remove that our known to cause issue with FCP X?

I did just create a very very basic two picture project and it did appear to export.

File just has a map cut /music/ transitions/ picture in picture.

Make sure iMovie and FCP X are updated to the latest version. I haven't found any elements that are not compatible so far. If this still doesn't work with the latest versions of both apps, can you tell me exactly which transitions you are using in the iMovie project?

Wonder if it's the music. FCP will not allow DRM tagged music while IMovie will.
