I'm finally making the move to FCPX and getting a new Mac with Maverick, lots of ram and a good video card.

Will I still be able to edit in FCP studio 6.0.6.? Should I partition my new SSD boot drive and have two boot drives one mavericks, and the other with OS 10.6.8 & FCP Studio?

I have a lot of FCP S projects that I will need to go back edit at some point

I don't know about FCP 5, but you can get 7toX for Final Cut Pro on the App Store for $10 which can convert an exported XML from FCP 6 or 7 to a FCPX project.
It isn't a perfect copy, but it's really close.

You will still need a copy of FCP 6 to open the original project and export the XML.

It should still work. However, i don't think you can install it from disks or images as fcp 6 has an older ppc installer which won't run. FCP Studio 3 (with fcp 7) will install. So, if you migrate your installed apps over from your old drive you should be OK. If you need to re-install the app you may have a problem. FWFW, FCP 7 runs fine in Mavericks (and Yosemite from why I've heard) Good Luck!
