Changes to audio in event not showing in project

I'm not sure if there is a bug in my system, if I'm doing something wrong or if it is a bug in FCPX. This could very well be my MacBook Pro which is being stretched to its limits on serving as a editing machine while my other computer is down.

I was under the impression that if changes are made to an audio clip in the event browser(parent clip) or in a multicam, that those changes would be trickle down and be reflected in any project that the clip is part of. More specifically, if I have an audio clip that has two channels, I can configure them in the event browser to activate channel 1, channel 2 or both. As I listen to the clip in the event browser, I can hear the two separate channels and the changes that I make.

Also, if changes are made to a clip in the event browser, those changes should present in the timeline viewer of that same exact clip.

For this example going forward, let's say that I am going to deactivate channel 1 in the channel configuration panel in the inspector. This is done by clicking on the audio clip in the event browser (highlighted) and the channel configuration panel shows the two channels. Channels are set to dual mono.

If I open that audio clip in a timeline, the changes made in channel configuration don't show in the timeline. Both channel 1 and 2 are active and can be again deactivated, altered, etc. Even though channel 1 was deactivated in the configure channel panel. I will now deactivate channel 1 again.

If I then open a multicam with the same audio clip, those changes don't seem to be transfered to the multicam. I again can see both channels are activated. If I highlight my multicam in the event browser, I can see the channel configuration panel where both channels are active. Despite the fact that channel 1 was deactivated in the original audio clip. Again, I will deactivate channel 1.

If I open the multicam in the angle editor, both channels are active even though I just deactivated channel 1 in the audio file in the event browser. For sh*ts and giggles, I'll deactivate channel 1 in the angle editor.

Now, I will open my project with the multicam clip that has the original audio clip in it, expand audio components....and TADAA...there are both channels active.

This is honestly driving me a little crazy. What am I missing here? What am I doing wrong? I'm sure its some simple thing that I've overlooked.

Thank you
Chris

Only Multicam Clips and Compound Clips have a Parent/Child relationship. All regular clips, once dropped into a Project, or other timeline, are copies independent of the one in the Browser.

If you change the channel configuration in the Browser first, then all the copies made into timelines carry that change.

If you drop a copy into a timeline, then change the one in the Browser, the independent copy in the timeline does not know about it.

If you make a change in a Multicam, or a Compound, and ONLY those two types of timelines, a change to one creates that change to all.

I'm bringing up an old thread that I seem to be still having issues with but in a different way.

I've applied both compression and a EQ audio effects to audio in a multicam of an interview. A compound clip was created that reflected the audio effects in the multicam. Once the compound clip was put in a project, the audio effects are not present.

Effects applied to a multicam should be present in all clips utilizing that multicam footage correct?

Is this happening with anybody else or do I have some sort of glitch in my copy?

Thanks
Chris
