Get a timeline title into motion?

Get a timeline title into motion? was created by dkag7
Hi,
I was wondering if there is any way to get a title in FCPX, that is on the timeline, into motion so that I can save it as a template. I looked in the project library but dont see any reference to the title itself.
I'd imagine that the title on the timeline must be a file somewhere on the system...? then I could open it in motion
thanks
Kurt

What you want to do can be done from the FCP X effects browser…right click and open a copy in Motion, You could also start a new title template from Motion's project browser window.

edit: Re-read your question; from the TL, you could make your title clip a compound clip for reuse.

The title is not in the effects browser.
It is a title that I created in FCPX titler.. so it is on the timeline.
But I want to get this title (on the timeline) into the effects (title) browser.
So I can re use it without always having to copy it from one project to the next..
Is there a way to do this?
thanks

What about saving the title as a master file (ProRes) from the share menu, then use that file as the basis for a new Motion project (Create Project from File) - the save it as a project/generator, and its available back in FCPX.

Saving it as a master file would make a mov...
What I need is a 'title' file so that when i open in motion, all the various settings within the title are there and editable. If i could get to that point i could then save it as a title template

So you customized a title that was in the Title browser? If so, you can open a copy of that in Motion. There's probably going to be some duplication of work to recreate it in Motion. But at least you do it once and then you can save that as your custom title.dkag7 wrote: It is a title that I created in FCPX titler.. so it is on the timeline.

yes..
But there was a lot of work in it.
I was looking at the free app 'sendto', where I can export from FCPX an xml, then import the xml into motion, however it does not seem to work with titles, just regular clips.
thanks

you ask if there's a way, you didn't say you wanted it easy

There may be a clever way to get it into the effects browser…but I'm not clever enough to think of it.
If it were my title, and I didn't want to re-create it in Motion, I'd just make it into a compound clip. That will make it available from the clips browser for future re-use.
