Backup Cycles was created by DSvoboda356
I have been experiencing this issue in 10.1.3 where the background process indicator starts cycling from 0-100% very quickly, when looking in the background process window it looks like the system is stuck in an endless loop backing the project up. I have tried chaining my back up locations and it still persists. The only solution I have found is to quit and relaunch. Has anyone else seen this or found another solution?

Repair Permissiond in Disk Utility. If still a problem, start X while holding the Option key, then choose Delete Preferences.

Thanks guys, I have repaired the permissions of the computer, as well as cleared the FCP Prefs. The issue still occurs. Very odd. I also checked the backups folder, no back up exists.

Copy the entire Project and paste into a NEW Project. I've never seen this, don't recall reading of this elsewhere. So it seems specific to your configuration. Did you, by chance, upgrade FCPX while in progress with the Project?

There is a known issue with Automatic Backups and 10.1.3 on some systems. Apple is aware of this issue, they have called many people to gather information.
Solutions until a fix is released:
Solution 1 (works for all systems):
Disable Automatic Backups for every Library and use a third-party Backup utility.
Solution 2 (works for most systems):
Launch FCP X
R-click on every Library that is opened in your FCP X Library Browser and choose "Close Library"
Do this for all the libraries you have in the Library Browser until all you see is a button "Open Library"
Click that button and load one or more Libraries from the list
Quit FCP X
Reboot the computer and launch FCP X.
Solution 3 (works for some systems):
R-click the Backups folder in Finder and choose "Show Info"
In the folder Info window make sure Read and Write permissions are set for "Everyone"
This will require an admin. password.

In addition to Ronny's suggestions, I gather that some people have succeeded by merely choosing a different destination folder for backups.
