Modify FCP X Movements Transition in Motion to only affect top layer

by rickytin
I would like to know if I can modify a movements transition from FCP X in Motion so I can add a movement transition to a logo that I have in a second layer without affecting my video in my storyline.
I know I can take my logo and create a compound and then add the transition and modify transition to/from black, but It would be faster if I only add the transition.
Thanks

Hi Ricky,
You probably know this trick already (since you posted this topic a long time ago), but I was recently trying to find a way to use FCP X built-in transitions with Titles without affecting lower layers and forum member Jari Innanen pointed me to a video by Benjamin Halsall with a very useful trick to avoid using Compound Clips:
https://youtu.be/nuKnrRohlN8?list=PLwmn8Iht2gSeKA6rLc3CatSLhHkarDYIG
It doesn't work with every FCP X transition (just like Compound Clips don't work with all of them), but it can be a good workaround for many transitions.
I hope you find it useful as well. Cheers,
Jesús
