Hey guys,
No emergency- the system is still working for me, but I have been experiencing some slowdowns with my 8-core, D700 nMP. By and large the system is sluggish- I thought it was just the fact that I've been working with raw R3D files since April. But some new corporate work has slipped in as the show starts to trail off and even those sequences are not fluid they way I would expect on this machine.
MacPro 2013 8-core, D700, 64GB RAM
OSX 10.9.3
FCP X 10.1.1 (currently holding on this version due to having to send online XMLs to Resolve 10.1.5)
CUDA Drivers 5.5.47 - and this could be part of the issue. I know I shouldn't need NVIDIA drivers for my AMD GPUs. I'm not sure if I installed them accidentally, or if what I have was installed with I installed Resolve. Regardless, they're on there. I'm not sure if this is causing issues or not. AE won't currently launch.
Also connected to the Machine-
WACOM Cintiq
Pegasus R2 24TB
2 Thunderbold Lacie 2Big drives
Blackmagic Intensity Extreme via Thunderbolt
Are the CUDA drivers the issue? Do everyone here with a nMP and running Resolve have CUDA installed or not? Which version?
The system also seems to be taking longer to boot than it used to, with occasional hangs on the startup screen. Spinning beach ball so I never get to the login screen. But only occasionally.

Hey Marcus,
This is a known issue.
Resolve automatically installs Cuda drivers. If you don't have any Cuda cards installed on your system, which is the case with the new MP, this can ruin your machine.
So do NOT install the latest CUDA drivers on any machine that has AMD GPUs and no CUDA hardware. To remove CUDA drivers from the Mac, go to “Mac HD/Library/Frameworks” and delete “CUDA.Framework.”
If you absolutely need to have CUDA software installed on AMD hardware, only install the 5.5.28 CUDA drivers and no other versions.

Ok, so at the very least I should be rolling back to 5.5.28- I'll do that immediately.
The question is- does Resolve (either 10.1.5 or 11) REQUIRE these CUDA drivers, or are they just installed by default and I can toss them?
Thanks a ton, Ronny

AFAIK Resolve 10 will not launch if the drivers are not installed, so roll back to 5.5.28

Thanks. I need to keep Resolve 10.1.5 on my system for online testing 'til at least the end of the year.
I know where to get legacy CUDA drivers- will 5.5.28 install over top of the newer one, or do I need to delete the framework and install?

It will install on top, but in this case I would completely remove the framework first. Then start up the MP, let it run for awhile and quit it agin, then install the 5.5.28 drivers.

Thanks, Ronny.
I was a bit worried there for a second. I trashed the framework, then my machine froze on shutdown. But after a hard restart everything came back up. AE is working now- we'll see what other effects this has.

Freezing on shutdown forces the computer to do a system check and repair on restart. I hope everything will work better now. Keep us updated.

Just an update:
The latest CUDA drivers seem to solve the problems with Macs that work with AMD GPUs and that have no CUDA hardware installed:
www.nvidia.com/object/macosx-cuda-6.5.14-driver.html
I haven't tried it yet, so proceed with caution. You always can revert if this would not work.
