After several people asked "how would my subtitles look with DCP" I extended my EBU TextUp Title with some DCP things for a visual simulation of DCP subtitles.
Same as the EBU line cells it can show basic DCP lines. These lines show what will happen when the DCP server runs with default DCP XML.
To understand why you can also some "help" to understand why this will happen.
This doesn't mean you can export a subtile DCP XML from FCP X, but allows to visualize how they will look like in the theater.
Download: www.spherico.com/filmtools/TitleExchange/XTI/EBU%20TextUp.zip
Unzip the file and copy it either to standard ~/Movies/.../Titles/ or better to /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro/Templates/Titles/Spherico/Standard Subtitles/TextUp/.
If you have already the previous version installed just replace it.
The second thing is that there will be a new version of X-Title Importer.
Beside several cosmetic enhancements there are better effect handling options, a vastly improved WebVTT voice tag support with automatic colorize for subtitles for hearing impaired.
And finally the big announcement that first time in the 3 year history beside the Motion Titles a Motion Generator is supported.
Digital Heaven's DH_SubtitleX is a very popular plugin with very unique features like adding a box to each line fitting each line's length.
Together with X-Title Importer now subtitle files like SRT can be converted to FCPXML using all features and effects of DH_SubtitleX.
The new version will be available September 6th here:
