Hardware Control Surfaces and FCPX?

Hardware Control Surfaces and FCPX? was created by Sjakelien
Hello everybody!
I managed to get myself a 2nd hand Mackie Logic Control, and will receive it tomorrow.
Since it features a Jog Shuttle, I was wondering, if I can use it with FCPX as well.
Obviously, I've done some Googling, and was surprised that I could hardly find any information on this topic.
As far as I understand, Final Cut Pro 9 had better support for such kind of hardware.
Is there anyone with any experience here?
I guess I will find it out tomorrow, when I connect the thing to my iMac. I will report back then.

First, there never was a Final Cut Pro 9, last one was 7. Versions 8 and 9 got scrapped before completion.
FCPX has about the same support as FCP7 did. Just jog/shuttle wheels. Color had support for color control surfaces, but FCPX doesn't.
Most jog/shuttle controllers will work with FCPX. Will that specific model work? Unless someone else has one, you'll have to plug it in and see. But I'm guessing it will.

Thanks.
In the mean time, I expanded my research:
The Mackie Logic Control is (logically) connected to my Mac through a Midi interface: all faders and buttons send out a specific Midi value.
Searching for "FCPX MIDI", I stumbled upon this video: .
It explains a nice trick to universally use ANY midi controller to send shortcuts to ANY mac application.
In short: I'm covered.
Let me know if any of you wants to use a Logic Control as well. I can then send you my setup, so you can re-use it!

I am moving soon and will be using a MCU/Logic Control in my new office. I would love to use your setup!

I guess/hope I will be all excited with my new toy. First priority is to max out on the Logic workflow.
Then FCPX.
I have found the source code of both Midi Monitor as well as Midi Stroke. I should be able to make a combined universal app with templates and stuff. Dreams.
I'll return here when I wake up

OK, so, actually, somebody did this already. Check this out:
discussions.apple.com/thread/6430030
The guy even created a graphic you can print out as an overlay.
He made it for his MCU, but I can confirm it just works perfect with a Logic Control.
Have fun!
