C300/MXF Import Problem since 10.1.2 was created by itux
Hi guys,
I currently google my way through the whole internet to find a solution for this problem… But I didn't find an answer yet.
The MXF footage that I import from my C300 is perfectly recognised by FCPX in the import window but as soon as it is imported into the event browser it looks like this. (See Screenshot) It doesn't play back but if I click show in Finder it shows the files and they can be played in Quicktime without a problem.
This issue started for me with 10.1.2 and still exists in 10.1.3. I also have the latest Canon MXF plugin installed. I tried on another Mac and I have the same problem there…
Any ideas what it could be?
Thanks a lot for your help! This forum is awesome!
All the best,
Niels

Hi Niels, and sorry for the late reply.
When you drop such a clip on the timeline, does it play?

Hey Ronny,
Thanks for your reply!
No it also doesn't play in the timeline. It’s really strange.
My guess is that there is a problem with the import plugin from Canon. But it happens on two of my machines. Maybe a complete reinstall could work and fix the plugin somehow… But it would be good to hear if it works for other people with C300 MXF in 10.1.2 or 10.1.3.
Any thoughts and insights of people that have it working are highly appreciated!
My current workaround is to transcode the MXF files to ProRes in Davinci Resolve. But would be amazing if I would not have to do that.
Thanks!
Niels

Hi Neils,
A client recently sent me some C300 footage and it worked fine with the latest Canon plugin for FCPX.
I'm using 10.1.2 with OSX 10.9.3
Hope you cure it.
Ian.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for your message. I will then try to do a complete OSX+FCPX reinstall asap. We will see.
Thanks!
