Okay forum. Y'all assisted me with my 1st problem (greatly appreciated), now I move on to my 2nd and final problem. I have my film (109GB) sitting on FCPX. I am trying to burn a blu-ray disc and then be able to play it back on a blu-ray player. I have made about 6 expensive coasters.

My Blu-ray discs are Verbatim BD-R DL 50GB.

My film on FCPX once exported is ProRes 422, 1920X1080, 109Gb. ( Total film time is 2 hours 7 minutes )

I have a Samsung Portable Blu-ray Writer SE-506

I have the latest version of Compressor.

So I feel I have all the tools to create a Blu-ray but I haven't been able to create one. I've tried dropping the H.264 file on the blu-ray but it says no audio. Many times I thought I burnt a good one but never plays on either of my blu-ray players. I've also burnt a 720 mov file of the film on the blu-ray but basically I just saved it to the disc, does not play back.

I need help please. Also, could you make it a simple step by step. I'm not too advanced with this stuff. Thank you very much.

You cannot just copy a file onto a BluRay disc. That won't work, as you have already noticed. You can burn a BluRay disc right inside FCP X, straight from your Project timeline.

Just be aware of the fact that to burn a BluRay disc you need to have a BluRay disc burner.

This is a step-by-step video:

Thanks Ronny for the response. Yes, I have a blu-ray burning. Samsung Portable Blu-ray Writer SE-506. I followed the video just as it states. I tried burning and it paused around 66 percent. And an error message poped up saying. "There has been an unexpected error". Something of that nature, short and to the point. That message came up after about 6 hours of processing. I will try again but afraid I will get the same result.

Do you or anyone else have any other suggestions or tips. Thanks you very much.

The 66% part sounds like the handoff to the embedded app, Create Disk was fumbled.

I had thought the most recent FCP X update was supposed to have addressed a number of Blu Ray encoding and disk creation problems. Have you updated to 10,1,3 yet?

From other forums, I recall that many users with problems were those who had long videos. If you have updated and it still doesn't work, see if you can get a short section to encode and burn. (To save the expense of a test disk, I'd save it to hard drive to make a disk image.)
