Hi,
Does anyone knows where to find final cat pro services. The website finalcatpro.com doesn't work. Is it possible to replicate these actions with Automator for example range select and then delete all
Thanks

Koozi,
Lots of "cat" videos on YouTube…
Not sure what you are trying to do here.
You can reject clips or parts of clips so that they are hidden from view if you want, is that what you are trying to do? You do not need automator for that.
Are you trying to delete the actual files?
Export only used clips?

Detailed questions will help get the best answers,
Hope this helps, Greg

Sorry Koozi, me bad.
Looks like website not working, but this is a link to a Apple support forum that includes a couple of email links to the developers so you can ask what's up…

Think they needed to update for Mavericks.

They just created some automator / Applescripts as Services to make their "Plug-ins". Technically not real plug-ins, but OS services.

Hope this helps, my apologies for the misunderstanding (not a typo after all)
Greg

Scott Simmons noticed this a few weeks ago. It looks like the developers of this plug-in have stopped development.

Kozi006,
The vids show Final Cat Pro working with FCP10.0.9.
10.0.9 left out some of these commands but now some of this is built in 10.1.2.
Are you using the latest version of FCP?
Which of the functions are you interested in?
Just looking at the vids and having done some Automator / Applescript programming I would say yes, they can all be reproduced using built-in software.
They also call open Numbers and Text Edit at different points.
Automator is pretty easy to learn and lots of pre-made scripts are available for Automator and Applescript.
Lots of web tutorials and help sites including Apple for using Automator. Automator is basically drag and drop. Applescript opens up more powerful options.
You do know Automator and Applescript are built into OSX?
Did you try to email the developers? If they have truly given up supporting Final Cat, perhaps they would be willing to open source what they did. Wouldn't hurt to ask.
From a simple Google search, looks like they are a couple of busy brothers. Several videos are posted on Vimeo.
At a couple of points in the vids you can see all the keyboard shortcuts they used and that they are Automator Services added to FCP.
Hope this helps, Greg

I wrote them on their FaceBook page, since that's the last place I got a reply many months ago. It sure feels like they have moved on to other projects. Too bad. These were useful tools. Now to dig up the uninstall instructions, because they just sit there in the services menu, teasing me.

I am slightly at a disadvantage here as I never used Final Cat so I can only go on what I am seeing in the videos.
My guess is that updates in the OS to Mavericks and updates to FCPX, Automator, and maybe AppleScript have caused Final Cat to no longer function.
What I saw however, is either now included in FCP 10.1.2 or can be re-created in Automator. Not sure if everyone is using Mavericks and FCP10.1.2 and not sure which "plug-in" people need.

Robwest…If you want to delete these scripts, my guess is that there is no "uninstall" program and that you need to delete via Finder. Or you may be able to right click on the "Services script(s)" and get a contextual delete.
Since I do not have Final Cat installed I cannot verify where the files are stored. Maybe they are located on your boot hdd>Library>Application Support>Apple>Automator>Workflows>FinalCatPro??? If you do not see Library, hold down the "Option" key.
They might also reside in your Home Library, not sure.
You can trash all the files that relate to Final Cat Pro and this will remove them from Services. If you are comfortable with Terminal, you can find all files and remove them that way too.
Before you do, would you locate the files and try to open one in Automator? Since Automator has changed it might not open, but it might and then throw a workflow error. Nice to have a starting place when creating an Automator workflow. If it will open, shoot me screen shot of the Automator workflow(s).
If you still have a bootable drive with older OS that worked with Final Cat then you can examine how the workflow was constructed if the above doesn't work.
Automator got a pretty big rewrite for Mavericks and everyone knows how much has been changed in FCP since .0.9 days. Automator can be available system wide or application specific. My guess is that Final Cat was dependent on FCP file structure that changed and broke the scripts/workflows.
I think Automator will see big changes in Yosemite as well. Swift is replacing Objective C as programming language dejour. Also, Yosemite brings extensibility to programs and this may increase the power of Automator. We'll see.
Automator is pretty easy to use, just drag and drop actions to create a workflow and is powerful. AppleScript can add even more power at the cost of increased learning curve. Again lots of web help like…http://macosxautomation.com to start.
There are also script sharing sites.
I use it for renaming, changing format, sizing photos in batches. Helps prep photos/images for use in FCP projects in just a couple of steps. Select your photos, drag and drop onto a Automator app, then they are all converted and placed wherever you want, ready to go. You can name all the photos with the name of the project/event and sequential numbering, converted to pngs or tiff…, into a folder with corresponding name on your desktop or into Media Browser. No longer have to put up with "DSC.jpeg 01245… when you want "(Project name.png 001… gathered into a folder on your desktop, send to iCloud/Dropbox/App, etc… Working on lots of projects, helps keep things organized.
Sorry for the rambling.
Hope this helps, Greg
