Relink causes FCPX to crash

Has anyone had this happen or know how to fix it.
The library file is a backup of a project that had somehow become corrupted (though I don't know how) so I am trying to relink some files. Any other function is stable but trying to relink anything even pointing directly to the file causes a crash.

It sounds like deleting Preferences is in order. In 10.1.2 you can easily do that by holding Cmd + Opt when launching FCPX.

Are you editing on your system drive? If so, repair permissions in Disk Utility.

I just trashed my preferences and tried this again and I still have the same issue. I am not editing on my system drive. Should I repair permissions on my external drive?

You can, but probably not going to fix your issue. If the external drive is moved around between systems permissions might have been the problem that got it in the first place. Also I wonder if you've gone through different FCPX versions since revisiting this Project? Perhaps you're missing an Effect/Title/Generator, or have an old incompatible one that is causing the crash.

Interesting, yes I did make the mistake of updating to FCP 10.1.2 in the middle of this project.
I have went ahead and exported XML of all my projects and multicam and am starting over in a new library.

Hi guys,

I know this is sort of an older thread, but for anyone who is interested in a fast workaround for this bug, even in 10.1.3, here is a walk through solution I made:
