Hi there - i'm in a terrible pickle and really could use some life saving pointers...

Opened up FCPX this morning forgetting to fire up my hard drive first.
Now that drive is back on, everything is exclamation marks and missing file/ missing proxy red screens no matter what i do.

Tried relinking to all the files in the event - it scans them but doesn't relink

My original R3D media is stored outside of the bundle on the same drive
My proxies are inside the bundle.

Am i doing the right thing by clicking the event with all my media in it and then File>Relink ?
Have tried with a smaller selection of media also...

Some more info:

The missing files eg: A001_C003_1209QV_001.r3d have lower case .r3d on the end (for alias files right?) not the upper case .R3D on the camera originals.

The example it gives me when trying to link to a first file seems to be INSIDE the bundle eg:
DRIVE/Final Cut Projects/ Project-name.fcpbundle/Event/Original Media/A001_C002_1209Y8/A001_C002_1209Y8_001.r3d

But my original media is outside the bundle and has upper case .R3D extensions

When i select my folder with the original media it says "Select another folder of file none of the xxx files are found in this folder"

Both original media (outside bundle) and proxies (inside bundle) are offline.

I just tried restoring from last night's backup and no dice.

I tried linking a single offline clip to my original media and i notice when taking a peek inside the fcpx project bundle it has created a new alias camera card folder in my Event > Original Media folder where there are no other camera card folders - that is currently just full of all my alias files for my sound clips....

I'm a bit of a newbie to FCPX so if you guys could help me that would be amazing - falling further behind on this project.... (already had one weird issue with it that Darren Roark helped me with a while back - got the project all set up & smooth running on a new user account so really confused as to what could have happened now..)

All the best
Matthew

Solved this now.... Managed to relink by reimporting all my red files (with the "leave files where they are" option checked as usual), and this caused FCPX to see everything again.

Interesting fix, thanks for sharing in case I run into the same issue. It's very odd that it doesn't relink by itself once everything is online. We work with our media over a NAS, and if you connect it after FCPX boots, it will automatically bring everything online.

One important difference I've seen with FCPX vs. FCP7 is that it will only keep ONE master clip to a certain piece of media in any one library. This is probably why reimporting worked to relink your project. In FCP7, you can have multiple master clips that act like autonomous clips all pointing to the same physical clip. So if you tried this in FCP7, it would think that you brought in all new clips, and nothing in your timeline would relink.
