No TC on GoPro for 29.97 footage, but have it for 60p

Hi All,

We got a bunch of go pro footage back from the field, and we're trying to prepare it for edit.

Weirdly, with any footage shot in 29.97, the timecode is zero'd out (i.e. 00:00:00;00). However, with the 60p footage that was shot on the same go pros, FCPX is displaying the correct time of day timecode.

If we run the zero'd footage through CineForm before coming into FCPX, we do get correct TC, but as this is a lengthy process we'd like to avoid it.

Has anyone had this issue before?

Thanks!

Search My posts. I have had this issue. GoPro says it is a bug with FCP X. This does not happen with my Black Hero 3 Just my Black Hero 3+. I don't want the time of day the video was shot as my time code in the time line. So I run all my GoPro footage through compressor to ProRes 422. Some people do not have our problem and some do.

Unfortunately we want the time code so producers can reference field notes etc.
