Hi,
Here is a filter I made that will give you linear motion without any s-curves during keyframes.
There is OSC for scale, Position and individual XYZ rotation (all set to linear).
Made for 1920x1080
One thing I noticed is if you use this filter on an image that initially does not fill the screen, the image will get cropped as you position to the edges of the screen. As a work around, use FCPX transforms normal function to first full the screen, then use the filter as needed. Not sure what I did yet with that, but the main function I was after of getting rid of S curves on keyframes works fine.
Add to your custom effects folder.

Hey Ronny,
I'd like to make it so smaller images work correct.. if you have any idea whats going on let me know..
if you put this filter on a 4x3 (or any image that dont fill the screen), then use the filter to move the image to the edge of the screen, the image starts to crop out. I'd like to fix that but not sure why it is happening.
To get in the linear functions, i needed to use the slider rig. you can set keyframe interpolation with this.
then you set 3 snapshots of movement (left center and right snapshots).
But, and this is big.. the center snapshot must be 50.00 (or the image with no movement , basically this is zero setting)
It took me days to realize this center snapshot must be set at 50.00 for the filters movements to work right.
Setting it to 50.00 is no easy task. I finally found an article by Alex4d about going into the motion XML and manually putting in this 50.00 setting. If you dont do this, then when you first apply the filter in fcpx, the image or video will move and not remain in its native state and position. This would be bad because setting the filter back to its original state, wont really be the original state of the position of the clip before the filter was applied...

The smaller images getting cropped issue is related to spatial conform.
I have noticed the same thing happening in other plugins as well.
So there are 2 options, I think neither one can be changed in the filter (Motion)..
1. first, put any non-16x9 image into a 16x9 ratio space using an image editor, save and export to a new 16x9 file... (some what a ridiculous work around)
2. set spatial conform to fill
Another possibility I haven't looked at yet is to add a drop zone into the filter..
maybe the dropzone can have some adjustments for scale/ratio/position etc.. that can overcome the spatial conform cropping.
#2 above seems the easiest solution for now

Does making the non-fullscreen still or clip a compound clip first before applying the filter have any effect? I have to do that on some animation-related plugins, like Alex Gollner's Smooth Move...

Thanks ddixon, I didnt think of that, and yes it does work.
It is an odd issue that smaller, or 4x3 images will crop out in a 16x9 timeline.
If I get time, maybe I will try remaking the filter in motion in a 4x3 setting just to see what happens in various FCPX timelines.
thanks
